Sew a Heartfelt Project: The Heart Pillow Pattern

|

The Heart Pillow Pattern is one of my favorite small quilting projects to make and gift. It’s beginner-friendly, scrap-friendly, and a great way to show off a beautiful fabric collection—in this version, I used Hidden Thicket by Leah Duncan for Cloud9 Fabrics. If you’re looking for a quick, satisfying sew that adds handmade charm to your home, you’ll love this pillow.

About the Heart Pillow Pattern

This 18″ quilted pillow comes together using a simple stitch-and-flip method (also called the snowball technique). It’s beginner-friendly and a great introduction to piecing angled corners. You’ll use 8 different print fabrics for the hearts and a solid background to make the design pop.

The Heart Pillow is perfect for seasonal decorating, thoughtful gifts, or just adding a handmade touch to your home.

Fabric Feature: Hidden Thicket by Leah Duncan

For this version of the pillow, I used Hidden Thicket, a lovely organic fabric collection from Cloud9. These prints were inspired by designer Leah Duncan’s walks through the woods with her children—full of hand-drawn patterns and airy, playful shapes. It was the perfect pairing for a heart-themed design.

Want to sew with it too? Hidden Thicket is available in fat quarter bundles, kits, and yardage in my fabric shop.
