Blockheads 6: Block 3 – Sunday Best
Welcome back! Today I’m sharing my third block for Moda Blockheads 6 — the Sunday Best block. This one came together quickly and has such a classic layout. I love the way the flying geese frame the center four patch— it’s a simple but striking design.
If you’re sewing along with Moda Blockheads 6, you might have noticed that the instructions for making the flying geese using the four-at-a-time method are pretty brief. The video didn’t go into much detail about trimming, and I know from experience that accurate trimming can make or break a block.
So, I put together a quick post showing exactly how I trimmed my flying geese units for this block. If you’re looking for help getting sharp points and a block that finishes at the right size, you can check out the tutorial right here. I included step-by-step photos and tips that helped me get a really clean, precise finish.

I’m really enjoying the rhythm of making a block each week and sharing my process with you. It’s such a fun way to build skills, play with fabric, and stay inspired.
