Blockheads 6: My Fabric Pull & First Block
If you’re into quilt-alongs and block-based patterns, chances are you’ve heard of the Moda Blockheads series. I’m joining in for Blockheads 6 this year and thought it’d be fun to share my fabric pull and the first of my Blockheads 6 quilt blocks—along with a little behind-the-scenes peek at why I chose these colors.

I jumped into Blockheads for the first time in 2024, and while I haven’t quite finished that quilt yet (still working on it!), I’ll definitely share it here once it’s done. I used my purple stash for that one—just pulled every shade of purple I could find, tossed them in a bin, and added a white background. Some blocks turned out better than others, but overall, I loved the process. It was such a great way to sew from what I already had and get creative.
This year, I knew I wanted to do something a little more intentional. I decided to use a fabric collection from Moda Fabrics to show some support for their designers (even though I don’t carry Moda in my shop just yet—maybe someday!). I came across the Folk & Lore collection by Fancy That Design House, and I immediately loved it. The mix of blue, gold, and creme is right up my alley right now.
Before I go on rambling too much, let me show you the stack of fabric I pulled for Blockheads 6. Isn’t it pretty? I bought this bundle from another small shop on Etsy. Even though I run a shop myself, I love supporting other quilt shops too—there’s no way I can carry every fabric I love (as much as I’d like to!).

And here’s my first finished block, Regatta. I love how it turned out, and I’m excited to keep going with the weekly Blockheads 6 quilt blocks. This one came together quickly, and it was a great way to get back into the rhythm of weekly block sewing.

Thanks for following along—I’ll be sharing more blocks as I go, right here on the blog. If you’re sewing along with Blockheads 6 too, let me know! I’d love to hear what fabrics you’re using.
Until next week, happy quilting, friends!
