Fabric Ideas and Inspiration

One of my favorite things about the Charm Star Quilt Pattern is its versatility.

You can mix and match your favorite prints for a scrappy look, or create a more coordinated quilt using a curated fabric bundle.

If you’d prefer a ready-to-go option, I also have a Charm Star quilt kit available with fabrics selected to work beautifully together.

If you love precuts, charm squares make this project especially quick to start. If you prefer a more cohesive look, you can easily cut your own 5” squares from fat quarters or yardage using the included charm square cutting guides.

Because the blocks are larger, this pattern works especially well with large-scale prints. It gives those bigger prints room to shine, so you don’t lose the details in smaller pieces.

The first time I made this quilt was in 2023 using Christmas fabrics from Cloud9 called Winter Wonderland (now sold out). I tested several star block sizes to get to just the right size so the fabric scale fit the size of the star points.

When I was writing the pattern last year, I used another Christmas collection from Cloud9 called Tinsel Time. There’s still time to grab some of that collection, and it works beautifully for this design.

I’m currently making another version using Enchanted by Cloud9, it’s perfect for spring with all those pretty cherry blossom motifs. I can’t wait to get it quilted. I’ll share more pictures when it’s finished.

I also have a Charm Star quilt kit available using fabric from the Heirloom collection by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics. I chose a few cozy flannels from AGF for the backing – Painted Prairie Flannel, and Fleuron Haven Flannel. It’s a perfect color palette for fall! I’ll be making that one soon. All I need now is to make a summer star quilt, then I’ll have one for each season!

Happy quilting!
