Blockheads 6: Blocks 18-22
Hey there, welcome back to another Moda Blockheads 6 share day!
I have a lot of blocks to show you today. I fell a bit behind on my blocks because I was working on some other quilt projects (which I’ll share more about here next week!), but I managed to catch up and finished blocks 18-22 in just a few days of sewing time. And they’re all so pretty!
If you’re sewing along with the Moda Blockheads 6 quilt-along, I hope you’re having as much fun as I am. Each block has been a great way to try new techniques, mix prints, and play with color combinations.

Block 18 – Sweet Pea
For the center star, I chose two of the golden tone fabrics from the Folk & Lore bundle by Fancy That Design House. I fussy cut a flower for the center, and used a smaller blender print for the star points.

The blue background fabric is a vintage Cranston print. I love how this block turned out!
Block 19 – Whole Hearted
Grab your favorite half-square triangle ruler for this one! My go-to is the Bloc-Loc, I get really precise results with it. I tried another HST ruler this week after hearing good reviews, but my units ended up about 1/8 inch too small after pressing (maybe I’m doing something wrong?) I’ll keep experimenting, but for now, Bloc-Loc remains my favorite.

Block 20 – Cross Training
This block is just too cute! I decided it was time to bring in more of that burgundy/rusty orange into my quilt, so I pulled four different prints in that colorway. I’m super happy with how this one turned out, it adds such a warm touch to the mix.

Block 21 – Bowtie Ballet
Tiny 4-patches and HST’s make up this charming bowtie block. I dug into more of my vintage Cranston stash for the 4-patches, and used Grasscloth Cotton in Cloud for the background. Such a sweet and classic block!

Block 22 – Lucky Charm
It was back to blues for this beauty. Lucky Charm turned out so nice! I played with larger scale florals, all in blue tones. I snapped a photo of my design board with all the pieces ready to sew.

Design boards are such a great way to keep your pieces organized and easily carry them from your cutting table to your sewing machine. I learned how to make these from a Lori Holt tutorial on YouTube. You can also find pre-made ones from Riley Blake Designs, but they’re easy (and fun) to DIY using dollar store foam boards, a bit of leftover batting, and some binding scraps.

That wraps up the blocks I’ve made so far. I hope you’re having fun with your Blockheads sewing, too!
