Welcome back! Today I’m sharing my seventh and eighth blocks for Moda Blockheads 6 – Bellissimo Star and Sandcastle. Sandcastle Quilt Block The Sandcastle block (Block 8) was designed by Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life. I follow Sherri on YouTube and always enjoy hearing about what she’s working on—whether it’s quilting, designing fabric, or…
Cutting fabric can be one of the most time-consuming parts of quilting, especially when you’re making a project like my Patches & Squares quilt that starts with lots of strip sets. If you’re looking for a way to cut faster and more accurately, I’ve got a tool to recommend: a strip cutting ruler. I used…
I’m back with another update on my Bible Sampler Quilt! It’s been three weeks since I kicked off this project, and so far, I’ve finished 19 of the 96 blocks needed to make a queen size quilt. I’m thinking I’ll probably make a few extra blocks and go for a king-size version, so there’s still…
Today I’m sharing my sixth block for Moda Blockheads 6, the Moonbeam block! I loved making this one, especially because I was able to turn the leftover triangles from the stitch-and-flip corners into two bonus star blocks. I’m planning to turn them into a zipper pouch, but that little project is still on my list…
Welcome back! Today I’m sharing my fourth and fifth blocks for Moda Blockheads 6 – Cat’s Cradle, and Dew Drop. I’m all caught up now, and these two blocks were so fun to make. Dew Drop took a bit longer with all those half-square triangles. If I make it again I’ll probably choose a less…
My daily Bible Sampler Quilt routine has been a bright spot in my week. Since my last update on June 18, I’ve finished 8 more blocks. So that’s 8 blocks in 12 days. Not quite the block-a-day pace I originally aimed for, but still great progress! Some blocks took more time than others, especially Bird’s…
I’ve had a Bible quilt on my heart for a long time, and this year, I’ve finally committed to starting it. I’m using The Bible Sampler Quilt by Laurie Aaron Hird a beautiful book that includes 96 six-inch blocks, each paired with a Bible verse. Here are the first few blocks I’ve made, along with…
Welcome back! Today I’m sharing my third block for Moda Blockheads 6 — the Sunday Best block. This one came together quickly and has such a classic layout. I love the way the flying geese frame the center four patch— it’s a simple but striking design. If you’re sewing along with Moda Blockheads 6, you…
The Flying Geese four-at-a-time method is a fast, accurate way to make one of the most versatile quilt units you’ll use again and again. Flying Geese blocks appear in everything from traditional stars to modern layouts—and once you learn this method, it’s a game changer. In this post, I’ll walk you through the four-at-a-time method…
If you’re looking for a quilt that’s simple to sew but full of color and charm, you’ll love this one. My new Patches and Squares pattern puts a fresh spin on the traditional Irish Chain quilt and it’s beginner-friendly, fast to piece, and fun to finish. At first glance, this quilt looks intricate, but it’s…
I’m back to share my second block for the Moda Blockheads 6 quilt-along, and this week’s block is called Crossroads. It came together pretty smoothly, but I did make a couple of small tweaks along the way that I thought were worth noting. The center unit is a quarter square triangle, and the cutting instructions…
If you’re into quilt-alongs and block-based patterns, chances are you’ve heard of the Moda Blockheads series. I’m joining in for Blockheads 6 this year and thought it’d be fun to share my fabric pull and the first of my Blockheads 6 quilt blocks—along with a little behind-the-scenes peek at why I chose these colors. I…
