Moda Blockheads 6: Blocks 15-17 – Petal Pusher, Cloud Nine, and Ninth Wonder
It’s another Moda Blockheads 6 share day! Today I’m back with my finished Blocks 15, 16, and 17 – Petal Pusher, Cloud Nine, and Ninth Wonder.

Block 15 – Petal Pusher
For Petal Pusher, I went with the foundation paper piecing method. It gave me such crisp points and neat seams. If you’re new to FPP, I’ve shared some of my favorite tools and tips here, and here.

Block 16 – Cloud Nine
Oh, and aren’t all those flying geese fun in Cloud Nine? I was so glad to see the 4-at-a-time flying geese method in the Moda instructions. It’s one of my favorites. I wrote a detailed tutorial on this method, including the tools I use to trim for accuracy, which you can find here.

For fabrics, I pulled out more of my vintage stash: the blue background is a Cranston Print Works print, and the red is by Joan Kessler for Concord Fabrics. I love how these older fabrics mix in with newer ones – a ditsy floral or tiny polka dot always makes me happy! Once I run out, I’ll be on the hunt for a new source to stock some in my shop.

Block 17 – Ninth Wonder
For Ninth Wonder, I used Grasscloth Cotton in Cloud as the background. I love how this creamy textured fabric blends with the rest of my blocks without being a flat solid. I also carry Grasscloth Cotton in Pearl, which has a bit more gray in the weave. Both make such versatile backgrounds.

Tip: When piecing the tiny 1 ½″ squares for the nine patch in this block, use a stiletto! It’s an essential tool for detailed ironing, stitching, and precision piecing.
