Blockheads 6: Block 9, 10 and 11 – Polaris, What a Lark, and Folk Star

|

I’m back to share my ninth, tenth, and eleventh blocks for Moda Blockheads 6 — Polaris, What a Lark, and Folk Star.

Folk Star
Polaris
What a Lark

Things are definitely getting busy (you can see my “messy middle” in the picture below 🙂 ), and I’m starting to see why Moda uses solids in their sampler quilt blocks. It’s time to add some solids into the mix! I was a bit hesitant to post these blocks, but I promised, so here they are! 🙂

What a Lark block – this block didn’t have enough contrast between the background and star. The large floral print I used for the background looks a bit messy here. I’m considering re-doing this block, but for now, I’m going to move forward.

While sewing all those half-square triangles for the Folk Star block, I did lots of chain piecing. One of my favorite little notions for cutting the thread between HSTs is the Blade Saver Thread Cutter, it uses your old dull rotary blades as the cutter and bonus – it’s cute too!

If you missed the earlier blocks, catch up here:
