Bible Sampler Quilt Update – 32 of 96 blocks

After a bit of a break from my Bible Sampler quilt, I’m back to making progress on it. So far I’ve completed 32 of the 96 blocks in The Bible Sampler Quilt book by Laurie Aaron Hird.

I’ve made 32 blocks so far. Here’s a photo of each one.

David and Goliath Block 25

The David and Goliath block was really tricky to piece because of the strange angles and Y-seams. But I pushed on through. I found it helpful to keep the seams I wasn’t stitching pushed out of the way, otherwise it’s easy to get puckers. I had a few, but I’m embracing its little imperfections.

Fish Block 32

Do you spot my mistake in the Fish Block?

Call it a design decision right! I meant for that fish to be white with an orange fin instead of orange. Imperfections make us human. And there was no way I was going to redo this block with all those Y seams. I am getting much better at Y seams after doing so many for this quilt. My tip, stop sewing right on the end of the sew lines, don’t sew into your seam allowance area. That way it’s easy to pivot the corners.

Day and Night Block 26

I was on a quilt retreat in Leavenworth when I made this block, so I got a little creative with the photography. I love this block!
